purpose of trust

The Foundation that was set up by family friend Ricky Smit with the aim of raising funds for people, like Nicholas, participating in equine sport and/or working in the equine industry who have suffered an injury as a result of a horse-related incident but cannot afford the medical expenses, the after-care and/or rehabilitation.

The Trust has, to date, assisted Talita van Rooyen whose career as a jockey was sadly ended after an accident on the track while riding work one morning. Her horse fell and rolled on top of her, breaking her back in four different places. This accident left her paralyzed from the waist down.

Further applications for assistance have been received and the Trust is currently reviewing these applications.
